Postfix

We use postfix and AWS’s Simple Email Service to provide low cost high volume bulk mail services.

Postfix can be used to send emails from WordPress by configuring the WordPress Mail or SMTP plugin. The plugin can be used to set up Postfix as an SMTP server, allowing emails sent from WordPress to be sent through Postfix.

This is especially useful if you are hosting your own WordPress site and need to ensure that emails sent from the site are delivered reliably.

Amazon SES (Simple Email Service) can be used to send emails from WordPress by configuring the Amazon SES plugin.

This plugin allows you to connect your WordPress site to your Amazon SES account, so that emails sent from WordPress can be sent through Amazon SES.

This is particularly useful if you need a reliable and cost-effective solution for sending emails from WordPress.

What is Postfix? It is Wietse Venema’s mail server that started life at IBM research as an alternative to the widely-used Sendmail program. Now at Google, Wietse continues to support Postfix.

Postfix attempts to be fast, easy to administer, and secure. The outside has a definite Sendmail-ish flavor, but the inside is completely different.
